Hi, we're Shabby Little Fellas — a UK-based creative brand founded by Samareena, on a mission to make learning Arabic ridiculously fun, genuinely beautiful, and something you actually want to do.
It started with one nagging question: what if learning Arabic didn't feel like homework? What if it felt like opening a gift, wearing your favourite T-shirt, or spotting an old friend on your keyring?
So that's what we built.
A little disclaimer, though: Samareena isn't a trained Arabic scholar or teacher — she's a learner too, right there with you, word by word.
The Fellas actually started as a way to grow her own vocabulary, and it turned out that printed, illustrated words stuck a lot better than flashcards ever did. So really, this whole brand is us learning together — we just happened to turn it into t-shirts and mugs along the way.
Whether you're a new revert, exploring Islam, learning Arabic for the very first time, or just Arabic-curious and here for the cute characters (no judgement, we love that too) — our products are designed to sneak vocabulary into your everyday life, one delightful word at a time.

At Shabby Little Fellas, we're firm believers that one word is a brilliant place to start. (Maybe even the best place.)

The Shabby Little Fellas are our very own folk-inspired characters, dreamed up by Samareena — equal parts warmth, personality, and mischief.
Each Fella carries a little piece of Arabian heritage and culture, wrapped in enough charm to make Arabic feel a lot less intimidating and a lot more "oh, I want to learn that."
Fun fact: "shabby" comes from the Arabic word sha'bi (شعبي) — meaning folk, popular, or of the people.
The Fellas are here for anyone starting from scratch. No pressure, no gatekeeping — just good company on the way to your next word.
Designed with purpose (and a lot of love)
With over twelve years in research and design, Samareena blends a background in psychology, design, and cultural research into everything we make — because good learning should feel curious, connected, and a little bit joyful.
We pull inspiration from Japanese kawaii aesthetics, Arabian heritage, and contemporary Western design, mixing it all into something that feels familiar, playful, and genuinely accessible.
At the heart of it all, Shabby Little Fellas is about connection — to language, culture, identity, and learning.
