Entry_005: The Missing Nod—AI, Reminders, and Building through the Void
Share
When you are fighting an internal war, consistency isn't easy. But the truth is, we don't push forward because it's comfortable; we push forward because the creation itself is what keeps us grounded.
This entry is a direct look inside the studio, the mind of a diagnosed schizophrenic founder, and the raw mechanics of surviving profound loss.
Since 2024, I have been walking through a world that no longer contains my mother. For anyone who has built something from the ground up, you know that the ultimate validation doesn't come from an algorithm or a stranger—it comes from the people who saw you at your weakest. Losing my mother meant losing the ultimate anchor: the nod of approval, the simple "go ahead" that tells you you're on the right path.
That silence is devastatingly painful. The gap it leaves behind is a physical ache.
Bridging the Pain into Visual Concepts
When you live with schizophrenia, thoughts don't always line up in neat, orderly rows. They clash, swirl, and loop. When you combine that sensory complexity with the heavy, crushing weight of grief, finding words to speak to the outside world feels almost impossible.
To bridge that pain, I turned to a non-traditional ally: using AI as a creative collaborator.
By using technology to engage in "thought talking," I found a way to take raw, chaotic internal friction and translate it directly into structured, visual concepts. It became a sandbox where my mind could organize its battles into tangible designs. It allowed me to map out private, internal peace protocols—systems of colour and structure that only a mind navigating this specific frequency could truly map out—and turn them into physical reality.
The Power of the Printed Reminder
Shabby Little Fellas and the Myrenium collection exist because I needed to see my survival written down.
Every custom Arabic calligraphic layout printed on these heavyweight fabrics isn't just a design choice for a fashion catalog. They are literal, daily reminders meant to catch your eye in the mirror when the noise gets too loud.
- The Chest Print: Acts as a shield over the heart, keeping you anchored to concepts of protection and internal strength.
- The Back Print: Serves as a definitive message to the world behind you, letting you walk forward into the unknown without needing external validation.
I no longer have my mother here to give me the nod of approval on what I create. So instead, I build these printed reminders to give myself—and anyone else walking through the dark—the permission to keep going.
Pushing Through the Noise
The algorithms might not make us go viral overnight, and the corporate corporate-dominated feeds might try to drown out independent voices. But every view, every read, and every individual who finds a sense of sanctuary in these heavy garments is proof that the message is breaking through.
We don't need a viral trend to validate our existence. We have the armour. We have the sanctuary.
We continue to push. We dress for the war.
